So i saw a headline with that arizona flooding thing, and in the lead picture, i spotted (unmistakeably to me) a prelude. Being a prelude owner myself, its always upsetting to see another one go.
Then there was a helicopter incident.
And then the sink hole debacle.
Those were just a few i could remember off the top of my head.
it worries me that preludes keep dying in high profile altercations...

Oof, as a former owner, I have already noted that they are shrinking in numbers, at least in the DC area. Not sure why Nature hates Preludes.
DAMN NATURE! YOU SCARY!

My buddy's awesome Prelude was destroyed by a drunk driver. Not as high-profile a situation, but further proof that the world seems to be out to eradicate them.

on the bright side, every prelude that dies increases the value of yours.

My 3rd gen suffered a fate worse than death. Sold it when I graduated college because I needed a wagon for moving stuff. It was in pristine condition with 4ws and everything. Guy who bought it seemed legit and interested so I didn't feel so bad letting it go.
Came back to town a year or two later and I see a white 3rd gen in a parking lot. Turn in just to see if it was my old car. As I get closer I realize it's slammed, with a coffee can, huge horrible chrome wheels, with a GIANT Jesus mural on the back window, and it's seriously dinged up. 'No way could that be mine' I'm thinking until I notice my old expired apartment parking tag on the back bumper. It had treated me so well and deserved better...

It doesnt help my case either because my first car was totaled by a flood... I need to buy two shipping containers. Stack them on top each other and stash my prelude in the top one.

Well, the only sliver of hope is that it could be fixed. But that does suck. Its funny you say that though, the original owner i bought mine from asked me what i was gonna do with it. I told him straight up it wont become a riced out crap can. I could understand his fears considering i was 19 when i bought it..
3rd gens are cheap nowadays though, you should try and find another!

I've got an auto search on CL, but I want it to be similar to my old one so that means white and 4ws...4ws ones do not come up often, and when they do, a lot of times the unit is removed. Some day.

Seems like most people ive heard of or talked to with preludes (who got into accidents) were almost never at fault. It was either at a stop, parked, or a freak accident (a parking shed fell on some guys prelude).

Yes that may be true, but i have no desire or plans to sell it. I really just want to give it to my (future) kid someday. Because by then, everyone will be driving these super modern computer operated machines, and he'll be cruising around in a dying breed of machines.
Thats what id like to think anyways haha.

Id honestly say keep tabs on the prelude forums. A lot of times the guys who have those cars are in the know, and communicate with other enthusiasts. When they need to sell it, they want it going to prelude owners (usually).
Check here every now and then to see what may come up

I used to be on that forum every day, soaking in every post. That was the first car I felt comfortable working on because there was so much information in that forum. I miss my 3rd Gen.

I read on there for a year before i even bought my prelude. I had a list 2 pages long of questions id ask sellers, thanks to all the info on the forums. Prelude owners on a whole are a much different breed of people. Not your typical civic forum goer.
